SLN is a free, peer‑led recovery community. We provide:
Free weekly online webinars with recovery professionals and peer leaders
Peer support and community connection
Access to recovery resources, tools, and directories
In‑person events (e.g., community gatherings, Recovery Day initiatives)
SLN is not:
A licensed treatment facility or detox center
A health care provider or counseling practice
A housing provider or sober living residence
A crisis or emergency service
Information provided through SLN is for educational and support purposes only and not a substitute for professional medical, psychiatric, or legal advice. Always consult a qualified professional for diagnosis or treatment.

SLN services are intended for adults aged 18 or older.
By using our services, you represent and warrant that:
You are at least 18 years old.
You have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.
If we learn that someone under 18 is using our services, we may take steps to terminate access and remove related personal data.
Some services (e.g., event registration, email/SMS lists) require you to provide basic information.
You agree to:
Provide accurate and current information (you may use a pseudonym for anonymity).
Keep your login credentials secure and confidential.
Notify us promptly of any unauthorized access or security issues.
You are responsible for all activity conducted under your account or using your contact information.
SLN may offer optional SMS/text messaging as an additional communication channel. If you opt in to receive SMS messages, you may receive:
Event confirmations and reminders (e.g., webinar start times, Zoom links).
Time‑sensitive updates (schedule changes, cancellations).
Occasional community announcements directly related to SLN programs.
Message frequency will vary based on your level of engagement (e.g., how many events you sign up for).
We do not use SMS for high‑volume marketing blasts unrelated to recovery support or SLN events.
You may opt in to SMS/text updates by:
Checking a clearly labeled SMS consent box on a form.
Providing your mobile number in a field that states you agree to receive texts.
Responding to an opt‑in confirmation message where required.
By opting in, you consent to receiving text messages to the provided number, in accordance with these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
You can opt out of SMS at any time:
Reply STOP to any SLN text message.
Email us at [email protected] with your phone number and a request to unsubscribe from SMS.
After you opt out, you may still receive essential service messages by email (e.g., responses to direct inquiries) but we will stop sending SMS.
Message and data rates may apply for SMS/text communications, depending on your mobile carrier plan.
SLN does not charge a fee for SMS messages, but your carrier may.
You are responsible for any charges billed by your carrier related to SMS usage.
If you are unsure about charges, please contact your mobile operator.
Mobile carriers and network operators are not liable for:
Delayed or undelivered messages.
Duplicate messages.
Any damages resulting from message delivery failures or delays.
Delivery of SMS messages is subject to effective transmission by your mobile carrier and is outside of SLN’s control.
By using SLN services, you agree to:
Treat all participants with respect, empathy, and non‑judgment.
Respect diverse recovery paths, cultures, and identities.
Maintain confidentiality about what others share in SLN spaces.
You agree not to:
Harass, threaten, or abuse any individual or group.
Share hateful, discriminatory, or explicit content.
Promote illegal activities, illicit substances, or violence.
Spam, advertise, or solicit services without SLN’s prior written consent.
Impersonate SLN staff, volunteers, or other participants.
We may remove or restrict access for users who violate these standards.
SLN encourages anonymity and confidentiality:
You may join webinars with camera off and a pseudonym.
We ask all participants to keep what they hear in SLN spaces confidential and not share others’ personal stories without explicit permission.
Recording or distributing session content without written consent from SLN is prohibited.
While we foster confidentiality, we cannot guarantee that every participant will follow these expectations. Use discretion when sharing personal information.
All content created or curated by SLN, including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, videos, and event materials, is owned by SLN or licensed to us.
You may:
View, download, or print content for personal, non‑commercial use only.
You may not:
Copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, or create derivative works from SLN content without our prior written permission.
Use SLN’s name, logos, or branding to imply endorsement without consent.
If you submit content (e.g., testimonials, comments, questions), you grant SLN a non‑exclusive, worldwide, royalty‑free license to use that content for educational, promotional, or operational purposes, consistent with our mission.
We use third‑party tools (e.g., Zoom, email providers, analytics) and may link to external websites.
SLN is not responsible for:
The content, policies, or practices of third‑party sites or services.
Any loss or damage resulting from your use of third‑party resources.
You should review the Terms and Privacy Policies of any third‑party services you use.
SLN services are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to:
Fitness for a particular purpose.
Non‑infringement.
Reliability or availability of any specific session or service.
We do not warrant that:
Services will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error‑free.
Information provided is complete or suitable for your particular situation.
You use SLN services at your own risk.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
SLN, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits or data, arising from your use of our services.
SLN is not responsible for decisions you make based on information shared in webinars, events, or resources.
If SLN is found liable for any claim, our total liability shall not exceed $100 CAD.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, we limit liability to the maximum extent allowed.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless SLN and its representatives from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
Your use of SLN services.
Your violation of these Terms.
Your violation of any rights of a third party.
Your use of SLN services is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect personal information, including SMS and mobile data.
